LitVision!
The August Editor's Intro!
Hello LitVisioneers! Your august editor, Patrick
Augustus, is very excited about the rest of
2005. So excited, in fact, that he is referring to
himself in the third person. Only sports stars
and people building media empires are
permitted to do that. So i do, but occasionally i
(yes, i) deign to use the personal pronoun "i."
I'm on my high horse for two reasons:
1) My small press, aptly named LitVision Press,
hitherto nonexistent except in my own mind,
just released our first book: Bukowski Never
Did This: A Year in the Life of an Underground
Writer & His Family, by Jack Saunders! Please
click here or the cover image at left to view the
promo & info page which i've lovingly crafted...
Don't forget to buy a copy! The Buk book is on
sale for only $12, postage paid! Plus i'm
throwing in a free gift if your name and address
do not anger me too much (i'm weird that
way). Once my distributor, Out Your Backdoor
Distro (which has nothing to do with anal sex)
starts selling these books nationwide, he's
going to charge the full cover price ($15) plus
postage, so you'd be wise to buy direct from me
this early in the game. I'm biased but i've read
Bukowski Never Did This at least ten times,
proofreading and obsessing over the text. Each
time i read it, i get something new out of it,
which is the sure sign of a good book. Plus, it's
damn funny too! Jack's a truly great writer.
2) The upcoming September issue of LitVision's
e-zine (aka Issue #13) marks our one year
anniversary! I'm ultra excited about that! My
co-editors Ezekiel Iddon and Kelly M. Hallam
urge all you wannabe writers out there to
submit your hearts out to our Anniversary Uno
Issue! By the neon green of our souls, may the
next issue be the best one yet!
After all this rejoicing i'll end on a down note
for our bipolar friends. You've read about
Hurricane Katrina and the nightmare going on
down south. Really, like 9/11, it's a worse
horror than any fiction writer could have
dreamed up. We at LitVision urge you to help
the hurricane victims in any way you can. Julie
Ann and i are gonna donate to the Red Cross
like we did when the tsunami struck Asia. Even
if you give $5 or $10 you are still helping the
collective effort...unless some sleazy CEO runs
off with it all. Anyway, i wrote a more
passionate & coherent essay about Katrina for
the ULA, which you can read HERE. Basically it's
me railing against the federal government. You
know, the usual stuff.
I've given you four missions in this Editor's Intro
(hint: refer to the links above). These are
actually good things for you to do, so instead of
gazing slack-jawed at my beautiful wheat field,
get crackin! Buy! Submit! Donate! Read! Oh, and
read the fun "August" issue of LitVision too!
That makes five imperial commands, which less
than one percent of you will follow! Bastards!
Yours in literary glory,
Patrick Simonelli
